- TIME 02:03

- LYRICS
- She took me to the luau. I took her to the bar.
We ripped and tore the engine to percolate the car.
Mister Juicy!
He thought he’d light a candle to sanitize her face.
- He then became a butcher and massacred the cake.
Mister Juicy!
Juicy ! Juicy ! Juicy!
She took me to the brittle (an escort to the dance);
she ripped and tore the panda to escalate my pants.
Mister Juicy!
She took me to the market. I took her to the meat.
- She wanted alligator but wouldn’t eat the feet.
Mister Juicy! Juicy ! Juicy ! Juicy!

- NOTES
-
In the halcyon days of my youth circa 1990, I utilized a rather
colorful vocabulary, with an extreme leaning towards certain key
words. For instance, I usually referred to my friends as
“Savages”.
“What’s shakin’, Savage?” was a catch phrase that would often
tumble out of my mouth for instance, as a standard greeting when
I would bump into someone.
I frequently used a set of peculiar, stock adjectives in my
speech, including words like “luscious” and “juicy”. That movie
is very “juicy”. Those pants are very “juicy”. You, my friend,
the ladykiller, are truly a Juicy spectacle.
So it was no surprise when I wanted to write a song using one of
my favorite adjectives, simply called Mr Juicy. Mr Juicy to me
is a lascivious fellow (somewhat like myself circa 1990) who
simply goes on dates to try and get some “action”. However the
ladies are also “Juicy” and reciprocate the lascivious and
subliminally violent behavior exhibited by Mr Juicy. Juiciness
begets juiciness.
I sat down in the Freak Room in the Haselton Dorm with Lord
Claud to compose the piece with some vague lyrics in mind ; I
suggested that we write a song that is basically a lascivious
nursery rhyme with improvised lyrics. I wanted the song to have
a really weird analog synth sound, and to be really sing-songy.
Rhyming couplets would alternate with refrains of me simply
shouting MR. JUICY and JUICY! We structured the song so that it
did not have a traditional “solo” and was simply a nursery rhyme
type structure punctuated by outbursts. If I had to categorize
the feel we were going for, I’d call it Ludicrously Lascivious.
Each time we performed the song, I had different lyrics (one
time instead of Mr Juicy, I sang “Mr Peanut”). The main reason
for improvising wasn’t necessarily intentional. I have an awful
memory when it comes to memorizing any kind of lyric, so I often
structured songs at the time with repetitive refrains that I
hoped would be recognizable, allowing me to get away with either
improvising or scatting lyrics during the main verses (which,
when live, were often streams of unintelligible words). Mr Juicy
afforded me a tempo that allowed me to create couplets on the
fly. The first couplet was usually the same in every
performance, but then I would make up the rest of the verses on
the spot.
Mr Juicy is also notable for the use of an instrument called the
Flexitone. Doc Tombstone, who often sat in on gigs with us had a
bag of percussion and noise instruments loaned to him by the
campus plumber Prince Apocalypse, who happened to be an
underground musician of long standing on the East Coast. A
Flexitone basically is a piece of metal that bends as you shake
it, rattling two tongs against the metal. You can hear it
throughout the song.

- STUDY QUESTIONS
- 1) What does it mean to percolate the car?
2) Why does every verse have some reference to food or eating?
3) How Juicy are YOU???
