Scientists were bewildered!
They did not know what the devil this creeping mass of flesh
was. The city was in panic. It was a disaster. Little did they
know – that it was X the Unknown!
(SIRENS)
ha! Hey! Heads go black!
ha! Hey! Heads go black!
Found that head in the bottom of the sea
found that head in the bottom of the pool
everybody’s swinging with the hot tail boogie
everybody's looking out for you
ha! Hey! Heads go black!
ha! Hey! Heads go black!
That’s your head in the bottom of the bowl
severed neat and screaming at the "A"
barreling thru that hot tail boogie
bloody and battered and blue
GUITAR SOLO
Electric fields are cracking together
red hot skin is tearing off the bone
tethering on your epidermic runny
cover and sterilize the zone
ha! Hey! Heads go black!
ha! Hey! Heads go black!
ha! Hey! Heads go black!
ha! Hey! Heads go black!

- NOTES
-
On the night before our first official gig as the Tombstone Teeth,
we were rehearsing our material and realized that we needed a
really rocking song to end our set. Instantly Stan came up with
a guitar riff that just ripped the roof off. I decided to add a
spoken introduction and Lord Claud came up with the idea of
kicking off the song with a Siren. The song was a last minute
piece that came together in about 5 minutes. X the Unknown wound
up being one of our most endearing songs.
The lyrics are loosely based on imagery from two B-Movies: X the
Unknown and the Crawling Eye. In the Crawling Eye there’s a
giant creature that ramdomly decapitates humans, eats their
heads and leaves their headless bodies lying around hotels. It
was quite disturbing as a young child (though the film’s pay off
is pretty lame). X the Unknown was a film with a creeping
radioactive blob that ate human flesh and left a skeleton
behind. The third influence was a creepy book I had about Death
which showed a picture of someone’s decapitated head --- all
black and gross, which made quite an impression on me as a
youngster.
